About Me
- Name: Martina Nicholson, MD
Dr. Nicholson has been at HMG since 1990. She trained at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn NY. She graduated from the UAG in Guadalajara Mexico, with the MD degree. Her undergraduate degree is in philosophy, from U. Santa Clara. She is a past president of the Santa Cruz Medical Society. She is married and has two teenage sons. As the oldest of 6 girls, she felt called to take a sisterly role in taking care of women, and she loves both obstetrics and gynecology. She is a member of the North American Menopause Society, and enjoys counseling women on making healthy mid-life transitions. She is interested in all the ways women struggle and juggle careers and family life. She writes poetry for a hobby. Five years ago a serious car accident caused a back injury, which has given her a deeper understanding of chronic pain, and the difficulties with other medical conditions which are not easily cured. She has always been interested in cancer treatment. Dr. Nicholson was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay before medical school. She is fluent in Spanish.
